LabEx ENS-ICFP
Program overview
ENS Physics Department, funded by the French Ministry for Research, implemented a “Laboratory of Excellence". As such, the LabEx ENS-ICFP, International Centre for Fundamental Physics and its interfaces, since its creation in 2011, has been dedicated to wide-ranging research initiatives and ambitious education objectives. These were previously out of reach, and have been boosting ENS international attractiveness, while broadening its recruitment pool.
Key aspects of the program
Junior Research Chair (JRC)
The LabEx recruits talented young scientists, capable of rapidly develop research fields across ENS laboratories, and allows them to develop their talents in a leading research environment. JRC holders interact with faculty members leaders in their fields, and contribute to major breakthroughs.
Master ICFP
The integrated two-year Master in fundamental physics mixes outstanding international and French students. In close partnership with Paris area institutions (Sorbonne Université, Université Paris-Cité, Université Paris-Saclay, Ecole polytechnique), the Master is in English, significantly increasing international students' proportion. To strengthen its international attractiveness, the Master awarded substantial scholarships (2012-2024) and housing facilities.
Outreach activities
The LabEx focuses on dissemination of scientific results and better visibility abroad for ENS Physics Department. Its sustained contacts with the private sector improve ENS orientation, establishing long-term relationships with companies both for research and for education.
