L’Institut de Physique Philippe Meyer a été créé au Département de physique de l’Ecole normale supérieure.

The Institut Philippe Meyer was created in 2012 within the Physics Laboratory of the École normale supérieure to pay tribute to Professor Philippe Meyer through a long-term initiative combining research and teaching.

Initially focused on theoretical physics, since 2024 the Institut Philippe Meyer has extended its activities to all the research themes of the ENS Physics Laboratory.

It funds and manages post-doctoral research posts, known as Junior Research Chairs, as well as a programme of visits by leading scientists.

Every two years, the institute also awards the Philippe Meyer prize, reserved for young researchers in theoretical physics.
Until 2024, the institute was funded by a partnership foundation set up jointly by the Meyer Foundation and the École normale supérieure. Since 2024, it has been co-financed by the Meyer Foundation and the ENS Physics Laboratory.
